60 new jobs at Nelson telecoms firm

A Nelson-based international telecommunications company has announced its second acquisition in a matter of weeks.

And it is a move that will give a pre-Christmas boost to the local jobs market by bringing between 50 and 60 new jobs to the area.

New Call Telecom, of Lindred Road, has acquired leading international wholesale voice business WaveCrest.

The acquisition by New Call, which was a highly commended winner at this year’s Leader Times Business Awards in May, comes only weeks after it acquired Nimbuzz, a fast-growing Indian mobile technology brand with more than 200 million users across the globe.

Nigel Eastwood, founder and Chief Executive of New Call Telecom, said: “I am delighted New Call has acquired WaveCrest.

Founded in 2001, WaveCrest has offices in London, Dubai, New York, Milan, Paris and Frankfurt.

The company provides high-quality, low-cost international calling solutions to retail brand owners, other operators and end users.
