31 nurses offered jobs across East Lancancashire

Fewer agency nurses will be called in after newly-appointed staff begin work at local hospitals.

The East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust offered jobs to 31 nurses at its latest recruitment event.

Eleven of the permanent jobs will be on surgical wards, with the remaining 20 nurses divided between hospital and community services across East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.

Chief nurse Christine Pearson said: “The appointment of permanent, extra UK nurses is excellent news and will make a difference to our staffing levels and reduce the cost of using agency nurses.

“It takes an extraordinary person to be a nurse. We’re confident that our new recruits are compassionate, dedicated and innovative nurses who are passionate about making a real difference to our patients’ lives.”

The latest recruitment drive follows an Open Day last October when 62 nurses were offered jobs.
