Mrs Wyn McGeorge, who was Mayoress in 1988 when her late husband Ken was Mayor, opened the Calico development of properties for rent and sale, at Primrose Mill, in Briercliffe.

Wyn, who received the MBE in 2012 for her services to housing, and is now a Calico resident and volunteer, joined Helen Thompson and Chris Henshall, Lancashire and Cumbria area manager for the Homes and Communities Agency, to cut the ribbon. Calico honoured Wyn’s decades of community work by naming an apartment block McGeorge House.
