Young’s Beers, Wines and Spirits supporting ‘The Only One for the Road’ campaign in Nelson
A national campaign promoting responsible drinking and safer roads this Christmas has arrived in East Lancashire.
Young’s Beers, Wines and Spirits is supporting ‘The Only One for the Road’ campaign, which encourages hospitality venues to spotlight premium alcohol-free options for guests throughout the festive season and to raise awareness of drink-driving.
The campaign was launched by British spring water brand Wenlock Spring Water and is now in its third year.
Santa made a stop at Young’s headquarters in Nelson recently to deliver crates of Wenlock Spring Water in time for the festive celebrations and help spread the campaign’s message across the region.

Roger Young, Head of Sales at Young’s Beers, Wines and Spirits, said: “At Young’s, we’ve spent more than 15 years supporting pubs, clubs and restaurants across our region, and we’re proud to stand behind Wenlock Spring’s ‘The Only One for the Road’ campaign. As a supplier to the hospitality sector, we recognise the vital role venues play in promoting responsible drinking, particularly at this time of year.
“Supporting responsible choices is not only good practice, it strengthens our industry and keeps our communities safer. We’re delighted to help champion a message that aligns with our values and supports the venues we work with every day.”
The Only One for the Road campaign encourages pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels to provide premium alcohol-free options for guests, whether they are designated drivers, moderating their intake, or simply choosing a healthier alternative.
Matthew Orme, director at Wenlock Spring, said: “Rather than focusing solely on the risks associated with drink-driving, this year’s campaign places greater emphasis on encouraging venues to promote responsible drinking and provide positive, enjoyable non-alcoholic alternatives for customers.”
The campaign is supported by police, road safety groups including RoSPA and Road Safety GB, and major brewers such as Frederic Robinsons, Arkell’s and Titanic.
Matthew added: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the level of support for the campaign this year, and it’s fantastic to see respected regional wholesalers like Young’s helping to drive the message forward.
“Their backing ensures the campaign reaches even more pubs, bars and restaurants across the North West, making a real difference at the busiest time of year.”
