New Penny Black era begins as trio look to make their stamp on early evening drinking scene

Burnley’s Penny Black has officially relaunched under new owners Madge Nawaz, Gaz Ali and Craig Kennedy – and the trio are already making their mark on the town’s daytime and evening drinking scene.

Crowds turned out for the launch on Saturday, where the Grade II listed venue revealed its refreshed look, including striking pillar-box red doors and a new wine, gin, prosecco and cocktail menu.

Madge said: “We want Penny Black to be a place where people can enjoy afternoons and evenings in the town centre, and we’ll be working with other venues to make Burnley the place to be.”
