Now the Rev. Tim Thorpe - superintendent of Clitheroe Methodist circuit - and his daughter Jess are bringing their auto-biographical show to Clitheroe at 7-30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th, at Trinity Church Hall, Parson Lane, with the pair also hosting an after-show talk.

Lauded by The Scotsman newspaper as a “fabulously life-affirming, beautifully structured show”, the piece also won plaudits from the Scottish Herald, who said it was a “caringly devised celebration of the extraordinary forces that underpin ordinary family relationships.”

Jess, who has set up her own theatre company with friend Tashi Gore, called Glas(s) Performance, worked closely with her father to develop the real-life piece about joy and tension between father and daughter. She said: “The main type of theatre we are involved in as a company is auto-biographical, with real people telling their stories. I felt I needed to go through the process myself to look at what it’s like to offer your own life experiences in a theatrical context.”

For his part, Tim said he enjoyed putting the piece together as it meant he got to spend extra time with Jess. He said: “It was a real privilege to know she trusted me to be involved in the project and the shows have really gone down a storm. There were people in the audience laughing and crying at parts as they could really identify with it at all the different levels.”

Tickets are available at £6 from Christine and Michael Britcliffe on 01200 424328. Ticket price includes refreshments and the after-show talk, and proceeds will go towards the Trinity Methodist Church Development Fund, charity number 1129609.
