There were impressive scenes on Saturday's show as the talented child magician came under the national spotlight as he performed for judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

Instead of the usual card tricks, Jasper, who is a pupil of Ribblesdale High School, decided to shake things up a little and performed a close up egg trick and then revealed to an enthralled audience how to do it.

Jasper started off pushing a red handkerchief into his hand, explaining it would then disappear and turn into an egg. He went on to reveal the truth behind this - the egg wasn't real and had a hole in it. Jasper carefully placed the handkerchief inside the egg before presenting it to the judges, but he didn't stop there. He explained what he had done, before revealing the handkerchief was now in his pocket. Jasper then turned the egg to the judges to show the hole, and raised the importance of not revealing said hole as it would give the trick away. But everyone was left stunned when Jasper was revealed to have been fooling them, as the hole was in fact a red sticker. He proceeded to pulling it off, with host Ant McPartlin shown gasping when it was confirmed the egg in Jasper's hand was real. To prove this, the teenager unveiled a glass, before cracking the egg against it and pouring the contents into it.

Stumped by his performance, Simon Cowell said: "You have a huge future ahead of you."

A former pupil of Briercliffe Primary School, Burnley, Jasper, who has a younger sister Izzy (8), made it through to the next round with a unanimous vote.

Speaking after the show was aired, Jasper said: "I have been in a few talent shows and I love the buzz I get from the audience reaction. BGT took that to a whole different level with the standing ovation from the judges and 2,000 people. I couldn't believe it, it was such a great experience."

His super proud parents, Paul and Claire Cherry, added: "We are proud beyond belief. The support has been as incredible as his performance. We are thrilled that the secret is out at last as it was filmed in February. It has been months and months of hard work, but it paid off."

Meanwhile, staff at Ribblesdale High tweeted their delight: "How proud are we of Jasper who got a standing ovation on BGT. We know how fantastic you are and now, so does the nation. Well done Jasper!"

It's been a busy weekend of stardom for Jasper. Yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday), Lorraine Kelly was left shocked when she found herself being tricked on live TV during an episode of Good Morning Britain. Jasper performed a magic trick for Lorraine, and pulled it off perfectly despite the fact he was chatting to her via link up rather than being in the studio.
