Burnley estate agent challenges families in lockdown to build a house from scrap and raise money for the NHS

Petty Real are asking people to get creative with old materials from around the house, like cardboard boxes and household recycling, and enter the #ScrapHouseChallenge.

The challenge is for people to make a house from scrap cardboard boxes and other recycling.

To take part in the competition, you have to post a photo of your #ScrapHouseChallenge to the Petty Real facebook page or twitter feed. The builder of the best scrap house, chosen by the Petty Real property experts, will receive a brilliant hamper full of craft materials ideal for keeping restless children, and adults, busy during the remaining weeks of lockdown.

In addition, Petty Real have promised to donate £5 to the NHS for every picture of a crafty scrap house they receive, until they reach their target of £500.

Ian Bythell, director at Petty Real, said: "The idea for this came from all the cardboard boxes we've got lying around. People are getting more things delivered these days because of lockdown, and so there's a lot more bits of scrap to play with.

"We are really hoping the community will get behind us with this. It's about having fun while on lockdown and also about recycling.

" But most of all, it's about showing support for the NHS. The doctors, the nurses, the key workers, they are all heroes every one of them, risking their lives to save others."

"The global health crisis caused by coronavirus has brought out a side of the national character that has been long hidden and forgotten. For the first time in years we've got the whole country working towards a common goal.

"We've got neighbours looking out for each other. We want to encourage people to take part in the national round of applause for the NHS on Thursday."
