9. Lucas Sports Club, Parker Lane, Burnley, 1982
Guest of honour at the Burnley and District Works Sports cricket section at Lucas Sports Club was Alan Holden a former player in the league and now skipper of high riding Lancashire League team Lowerhouse. Alan presents the prizes to captains of the winning teams pictured above, who are, left to right, Joe Holland, (Thorn EMI, the A Division runners-up); George Willan (Prestige, A Division champions and St John’s Cup runners-up), Peter Ryan (Taverners, St. John’s Cup winners), Bob Martland (NELD B Division winners), Harold Ashworth (Burco Dean B Division runners-up). The Sportsmanship Cup was won by the GPO Postal and the Umpire of the Year Award went to Leo Dixon. The two cup final umpires, John Smeeth and Bill Mortimer were given awards. Photo: S
