The fun-shine resort of Blackpool has called out the guards to make sure everyone is having a good time this Easter. After declaring itself an independent principality of fun at the end of last season, it is hoping to carry on laughing by setting up chuckle check points around the town. Drivers in the resort's main car park complex were greeted by smile sergeants Jenny Clays and Andrea Lew and chuckle corporal Peter Oliver, who reminded them of the town's charter of fun

Preston's oldest operatic society may have to pack up its greasepaint for good if its new production isn't a success. Members of the 40-year-old Preston Gilbert and Sullivan Society are worried that they won't be able to raise the money for next year's production after their stock of costumes was destroyed.
