An entertainment course set up by Morecambe man Peter Hosker proved so successful that college bosses want to run another. The 10-day course, spread over 10 weeks, taught students the tricks of the entertainment trade. And many of the students, most whom were unemployed, have now found jobs in the business. Keen parents in a North Lancashire village dug deep when they decided to help build a school extension. Not only did the mums and dads raise £15,000 in a year for the new library - they even helped clear the foundations.
