The blaze started in the kitchen then spread into an extractor fan and across the distinctive thatched roof, hitting much of the restaurant's first floor

The frontage may look the same, but Primark now sits where Marks and Spencer once did. This is the redevelopment of the Cartwright Mansion, on Fishergate, Preston in July 1990. Only the facade of the original building remains having been incorporated into the new store front of Marks & Spencer. This property was originally the home of William Cartwright, resident engineer of the Lancaster Canal. He built the house in 1802.
