Eleven-year-old Evie Scarborough from St Mary’s RC Primary School Sabden, Mia Moxham (8) and seven-year-old Phoebe Mankowski, both Read St John’s Primary School pupils, set themselves a personal challenge of running 50 laps within one hour around their housing estate whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines.

They decided to make posters and ask friends and family to support them by donating money for their chosen charity. They all wanted to do something positive to remember during lockdown and to contribute to their local hospital that has faced unprecedented pressures caused by COVID-19.

The girls all said: “We have an amazing NHS and they deserve a little something back for everything they do. Today was fun but physically tiring, but it has made us think about the long hours that the fantastic NHS staff are working during the pandemic."

The girls did lots of warming up beforehand and completed their challenge within the one hour goal. They raised an amazing £100.
