Pendle's Covid cases reducing but still above national average

New figures have showed that Covid cases and the infection rate are coming down in Pendle, but the rate is still high and above the national average.

The number of new cases this week is 327 and the infection rate per 100,000 is 375.9.

And sadly more people in Pendle over the last week have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

Pendle Council is urging people to stay safe, stick to the restrictions and get vaccinated to protect themselves against Covid-19 when they are contacted.

If it's essential to go out, the council is reminding people to wash hands, make space and wear face coverings when in enclosed public spaces.

The age group for most new cases is 30 - 39, the same as the last two weeks.

The number of new cases reported last week on Wednesday January 27th was 433 and the rate of infection per 100,000 was 535.2.
