It has been reported today that Government Ministers are contemplating tougher restrictions less than a week on since Lancashire along with the rest of the country moved into national lockdown.

The Prime Minister announced last week that a third national lockdown would be necessary to bring the spread of the virus under control, with the new rules coming into full effect on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

However, according to reports the Prime Minister spoke with senior ministers on Sunday to evaluate “whether the current lockdown rules were working” in reducing the spike of coronavirus cases.

The latest figures from Public Health England, show the case rate for neighbourhoods in Burnley for the seven days to January 7, 2021.

Below are all the areas of Burnley with a rolling rate of more than 900 per 100,000 population listed from lowest to highest.

The Burnley areas with a rolling rate lower than 900 include; Bank Hall & Fulledge, Brunshaw & Brownside and Cliviger, Worsthorne & Lane Bottom
