Pendle Leisure Trust sporting and cultural venues to be closed across the borough

The decision was taken by the Trust and Pendle Council "to protect public safety and prevent the spread of the coronavirus," announced council leader Coun. Mohammed Iqbal.

“All centres will close at 3pm on Sunday March 22nd and until further notice,” he added.

Pendle Leisure Trust facilities are:

The ACE Centre, including the Courtyard Bistro;

Pendle Wavelengths, gym and Inside Spa, Nelson;

The MUNI Theatre in Colne;

Pendle Leisure Centre including swimming pool in Colne;

West Craven Sports Centre and swimming pool in Barnoldswick;

Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre including track in Nelson.

Pendle Leisure Trust’s community projects - The Goodlife growing project at Hodge House Allotments in Nelson and the Up and Active programmes - will also be closed until further notice.

However Marsden Park Golf Course, operated by the Trust‘s partner Reevolution Golf will remain open until further notice.

Alison Goode, chief executive of the Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “We have been operating as normally as possible, with extra measures in place to protect the public and staff.

“The decision to close has been taken with a heavy heart, but we have to put the safety and well-being of our loyal and active customers first and it’s vital that our staff are protected, too.

“We are working through our existing bookings and will contact customers in the near future."

The Pendle Leisure Trust’s normal terms and conditions will not apply during the period of closure and the Trust will not collect any direct debit payments during this period.

Any pre-paid memberships, such as annual gym memberships, will be extended to compensate for the period of closure.

Alison added: “We will follow Government guidance and once it is safe to re-open our doors we look forward to welcoming people back to enjoy our services and activities.”
