Burnley care home's uplifting message to friends and relatives as they take to the stage to keep their spirits up

"Everyone is fine here and keeping in good spirits."

That is the reassuring message residents and staff at a Burnley care home have sent out to worried friends and relatives.

They have also appealed for everyone to keep safe as we enter the second week of the coronavirus lockdown.

Describing the challenge of lockdown as 'hard and emotional,' especially when they had to call off a themed 'afternoon at he movies' event with guest singers, staff agreed they had to do something to keep residents in a positive frame of mind.

So they threw them a karaoke tea party, singing songs from eras right across the board, from Vera Lynn to Tom Jones.

Residents themselves took centre stage with their vocal skills and some even had a dance with staff joining in too.

Sandwiches, cakes and snacks were served with tea and coffee and something a little stronger for those who felt the need!
