Burnley quantity surveyor to run London Marathon for the Royal British Legion
Remembrance Day shouldn’t be confined to a single moment each year… it should mean taking action.
That’s how passionately Daniel Tempest feels and he is hoping to raise awareness of the work done by the Royal British Legion by taking part in the London Marathon.

And for quantity surveyor Daniel (43) running the marathon is taking him way out of his comfort zone as this time last year he had only ever completed a 5k.
He said: “This feels like the right thing to do and any discomfort I experience in training, or on the day, is nothing compared to what so many in our Armed Forces community have endured.
“The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal is as vital today as it has ever been. Here in Burnley, the legion is making a real difference every day, supporting veterans and their families who are facing homelessness, financial hardship, isolation and mental health struggles.
"Their caseworkers provide practical help such as emergency grants and housing support, but also something just as important: human connection for people who feel they’ve been forgotten.”
Daniel added he has known veterans personally who have struggled after service, and since making his fundraising public he’s heard from friends whose families have been supported by the organisation.
Daniel has already topped his £2,500 target by a grand. He said: "Every donation helps ensure this life‑changing work continues for veterans “Running the London Marathon is my way of thanking all servicemen and women for their service and sacrifice, especially those who paid the ultimate price so that others may live in freedom.”
