A team of accountants are exercising all the way from Lancashire to New York without leaving the comfort of their office in memory of a former colleague who died in June after a battle with cancer.

The PM+M team are running, walking cycling, swimming, horse riding, roller skating and skateboarding in an attempt to collectively cover the distance across the Atlantic from Lancashire to New York - a staggering 3,320 miles - in memory of Faye Holden for Pendleside Hospice.

The idea was inspired by Faye, who died aged just 43, and who had previously raised money for the hospice by swimming the distance of the English Channel. The team is aiming to hit its target mileage by the end of September.

Jane Parry, managing partner, said: “Everyone at PM+M was incredibly saddened by the passing of Faye who was a much respected and valued member of the team. Faye joined PM+M in 2000 and over the years she became an integral part of the business.

"Her professionalism, passion for life and dedication to her clients shone through and we will all miss her terribly. Losing Faye at such a young age is a huge loss, so we wanted to do something in her memory that would make her proud and happy.

"This is a huge challenge for our team, and any donations to spur us all on and to help Pendleside Hospice continue delivering its incredible and much needed care would be greatly appreciated, however big or small.”

On average, it costs £1,965 per day for someone to be an in-patient at the hospice, with yearly running costs totalling over £4m. and only 22% of grant funding coming from the NHS. This means that the hospice needs to raise over £3m. each year from charitable donations to keep their doors open.
