A sloping patch of land in the grounds of a school has been transformed into a Peace Garden.

The transformation at Christ the King RC Primary School in Burnley has seen the area, that was once unused ,become a lovely garden area with seating for children to retreat to as a quiet place for prayers and reflection.

The school has a weekly gardening club who will maintain the area to help them learn how to care for the environment. It will also play a role in events at the school including open days and fairs.

Work was carried out by Phil Riley Landscaping Contractors of Burnley who worked on the project with headteacher Mrs Catherine Barnes and after school club supervisor Mrs Connolly. The project was made possible after it received a £10,000 grant from the Tesco Bags for Help scheme where shoppers at the Burnley store were asked to vote for a series of projects.
