Hundreds attend 'fantastic' Nelson and Colne College Fun Day
Offering a wide range of fantastic, free, and fun activities, Lancashire Adult Learning were also at the event with the action-packed day treating one and all to an exciting and interactive experience in the welcome summer sunshine.
With Lancashire Adult Learning's Lego Robotics, Ozobots, Picture Animation, and arts and crafts tasks all the rage, attendees could also take advantage of the chance to get up close to a variety of visiting farm animals including alpacas, lambs, Sandy the goat, and a seven-year-old leopard tortoise called Norman at Wellybobs Mobile Farm.
On top of that, there was also a bouncy castle, face painting, hook a duck, a coconut shy, exercise challenges to get involved with, market stalls to browse, a food court and picnic area, and much more.
“I came last year and I thought it was fantastic," said Victoria Horsfall, from Burnley. "It’s great day out – I come for new ideas to take home for the children, and then share them with other mums, as you are always looking for something new to do with them. It’s really good for all of the family.”
Lancashire Adult Learning's Associate Principal Tracey Baron said: "Once again, our Family Fun Day was a tremendous success and I’m absolutely delighted to hear the hugely positive feedback from visitors who came along and joined in with the fantastic, free taster family learning activities that were on offer to sample on the day.
“For those who want to know more about the range of courses we offer to the public, the new course guide for Autumn is now available and is full of high-quality courses to help adults across the county learn a new skill, start a hobby, or develop their career prospects," she added.
With a huge range of planned provision across the county - from arts and crafts to humanities classes, languages to health and well-being sessions, functional skills, English, and Maths and employability courses - Lancashire Adult Learning also offers targeted delivery.
“The children loved the Lego Robotics and I thought the Ozobots were great – Artificial Intelligence is really cool," said Michael Middleton, from Colne. "They also really liked the wax activity and the arts and crafts as they enjoy painting.”
Christine Andrews, from Great Harwood, added: “I was searching for something to do with the grandchildren when I came across the Family Fun Day and I couldn’t believe what was on offer – all of the free activities. It think it’s wonderful – it’s a great way to spend the day and it’s good for educating children and adults and broadening your knowledge.”
