Hot cross buns ensure Easter fun at Burnley primary school
Children at a Burnley primary school enjoyed tasting hot cross buns as part of their RE learning linked to the Easter story.
The buns were donated to Springfield County Primary School in Burnley Wood by Burnley Tesco.
Teacher Stefanie Staples said: "We are extremely grateful to Tesco and particularly Billie, their Community Champion, for organising the donation. It is so important that our children get to take part in experiential learning as it allows them to gain full understanding.
"Our Easter learning, led by Mrs Lingard, has taken us around the world discovering the international Easter celebrations, and ending with tasting some delicious hot cross buns.
"The Hobbits (Upper Key Stage Two) have also learnt to play 'Hot Cross Buns' on the recorder in their music lessons – again, pulling in learning from across the curriculum to aid understanding and allow children to make links in their learning."
