Excellent A-level results is music to Matthew’s ears

Matthew achieved a B in Music Technology, a C in Media Studies and a D in Music after receiving an unconditional offer from Futureworks in Manchester.

As well as a solid set of grades behind him, Matthew has also benefited from hands-on experience mixing sound at The Grand in Clitheroe, with his most memorable moment working alongside popular punk-rock band "Skids".

Matthew said: “I play the drums in a few bands, one of which specialises in punk covers - so to be part of the crew behind such an iconic performance at an amazing venue was a once-

-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m heading to Manchester to study sound engineering, so there are opportunities to work in the music, gaming and film industry.”

The Alder Grange Sixth Form student has had plenty of practice already, as he’s performed for his school in assemblies and concerts since starting his A-levels.

“Going to Alder Grange has helped me develop my skills massively. The opportunities I’ve experienced – such as working with The Grand - would never have come about if my

teachers hadn’t supported me with my passions.”
