Clever Clitheroe pupil and boxer celebrates knockout GCSE performance

For the 16-year-old, who lives in Clitheroe, picked up an impressive 10 grade 9 GCSEs in English literature, English Language, RE, PE, maths, physics, chemistry, biology, Spanish and history.

Hide AdOutside of school, Toro is well known for his boxing achievements. The talented young boxer gained national recognition last year from England’s talent spotters when reaching the semi-final stage of the England Boxing National Junior Championships.
Toro will now attend Clitheroe Royal Grammar School to complete his A-levels in maths, biology, chemistry and PE.
Speaking about his top grades, proud mother Hilary Croft said: "The whole family are so proud. Toro works so hard and is so dedicated and focused. To box at a national level and achieve academically also. The world is his oyster."

Hide AdShe added: "Toro was very nervous about his GCSE results after the A-Level results fiasco, but felt more confident after the government’s change in decision."
Looking to the future, his dream is to reach the Commonwealth games and Olympics and is also interested in a career in medicine and bio-engineering.
