Ribbon cutting ceremony for re-opening of Higham Village Hall after major renovation
A much loved village hall is preparing to re-open this weekend, after the completion of a major extension and refurbishment.
The community has been invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the re-opening of the grade two listed Higham Village Hall on Saturday (April 25).
VIP guests include the Mayor of Pendle Coun. Mohammad Ammer and MP Jonathan Hinder.

The hall, home of the annual Higham Scarecrow Festival, has undergone a significant transformation over recent months, funded by FCC Communities Foundation through the Landfill Communities Fund. Work carried out by local contractor Kevin M Hiley Construction of Barrowford.
The renovation includes a new rear storage extension, fully reconfigured toilet facilities including a new accessible disabled toilet and an extended, modern kitchen.
Graham Fitton, treasurer of Higham Village Hall management committee, said: “What could have been a really disruptive project has been handled smoothly and professionally, and the regular users of the hall have been incredibly patient and accommodating. We are so excited to show everyone what has been achieved."
The event begins at 2pm and the afternoon will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a preview of a promotional film documenting the build, building tours, and afternoon tea and refreshments.
The hall, in Pendle, was originally a school, and the committee is now appealing for former pupils and members of the community, who have memories or photographs of the building in its school days, to go along and share their stories.
The launch is free and open to all, no booking is required. To let the team know you are attending, email [email protected].
