Pendle Mayor to tackle Pendle Hill walk for Pendleside Hospice, NK Foundation and East Lancashire Down Syndrome Support Group
The Mayor of Pendle is set to launch the first fundraising event of his mayoral term by taking on a challenging walk from Nelson to the summit of Pendle Hill and back.
Coun. Nadeem Ahmed will take on the challenge on Saturday, September 5th, walking from Nelson Town Hall to the summit of the famous landmark before completing the return journey.
The challenge will raise money for three charities chosen by the Mayor – Pendleside Hospice, the NK Foundation and the East Lancashire Down Syndrome Support Group.
Councillor Ahmed said the walk would be the first fundraising event organised during his time as Mayor of Pendle, with the money raised going towards the three causes.

He said: “I will be walking from the Town Hall in Nelson to the summit of Pendle Hill and back.
“All funds will be raised for my chosen charities Pendleside Hospice, NK Foundation and East Lancashire Down Syndrome Support Group.
“This will be the first event arranged to raise funds during my Mayoral term. At the end of my Mayoral term all funds will be donated to the three charities.”
People are being encouraged to support Coun. Ahmed's challenge with donations, with every contribution helping the three organisations continue their work supporting people and families in the local community.
The money raised will be divided equally between the three chosen charities and will be donated at the end of the Mayor’s term of office.
