New fitness studio opens at Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson
A brand-new fitness studio has officially opened at Pendle Wavelengths, with residents invited to try out its facilities during a free open weekend this June.
The new studio, funded through the Nelson Town Deal programme, was officially opened by Pendle Council leader Coun. Asjad Mahmood and Nelson Town Deal Board chair Stephen Barnes.
They were joined by representatives from Pendle Leisure Trust, including chief executive Simon Gwynne, business development manager Paul Whittaker and Pendle Wavelengths centre manager Shaun Grant.
The opening marks a significant investment in health and wellbeing facilities in Pendle and comes ahead of a free open weekend on June 7th and 8th.

Visitors will be able to take part in a range of activities including family swimming sessions, live demonstrations, taster classes and tours of the new facilities.
The studio will offer several new activities, including Reformer Pilates, a low-impact exercise programme designed to improve strength, flexibility and posture.
The centre is also launching XR2, a group fitness programme that combines strength, conditioning and cardio-based exercises.
In addition, the studio will host sessions from Up & Active, providing accessible activities for people living with long-term health conditions.
Another new feature is PlayLü, an interactive digital activity system designed to encourage movement through technology-based games and experiences, particularly for younger users.
Coun. Mahmood said: “The opening of this fantastic new studio demonstrates our commitment to improving health, wellbeing and leisure opportunities for residents.
“Thanks to funding from the Nelson Town Deal, we have been able to create a modern, inclusive space that will benefit people of all ages and abilities, encouraging them to move more, feel better and stay active for years to come.”
Simon Gwynne, chief executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “This is a chance for people to come along, try something new and experience everything this fantastic new space has to offer.
“We hope it gives even more people a reason to visit Nelson and get involved in becoming more active.”
Stephen Barnes, chair of the Nelson Town Deal Board, added: “This new studio is a fantastic example of how Nelson Town Deal funding is helping to deliver meaningful improvements for local people.
“It’s pleasing to see such a wide range of activities on offer, ensuring the space is accessible and appealing to people of all ages and abilities.”
