New Burnley FC exhibition to celebrate town’s homegrown talent

A new exhibition celebrating Burnley Football Club’s homegrown stars is set to open at Burnley Library this spring.

The Clarets Collected project has announced plans for One of Our Own: Burnley Made and Played, which will shine a spotlight on players developed in the town; from the club’s earliest days through to modern times.

Organisers are aiming to launch the exhibition on Saturday, May 23, with more details to be confirmed.

The update comes as the project enters a new phase following the retirement of long-serving engagement officer Keith Burrows in autumn 2025.

He has been succeeded by Dr Carmel Hustler, who brings a wealth of experience from her work leading a major heritage project that saw thousands of historic photographs digitised across East Lancashire libraries.

Dr Hustler will now help drive the project forward, building on existing work while introducing new ideas.

Meanwhile, the initiative continues to engage local schools, with pupils taking part in sessions exploring the history of Burnley Football Club before visiting Turf Moor for behind-the-scenes tours.

Volunteers have also played a key role, spending the past two years cataloguing the Clarets Collection at the library. Their work has now gone online, allowing the public to search архив material before visiting in person.

Looking further ahead, organisers are also exploring plans for a major exhibition at Towneley Hall in summer 2027, as part of Burnley’s Year of Culture celebrations.

For now, attention turns to May’s exhibition, which promises to celebrate the town’s rich footballing heritage and the players who came through its ranks.
