Burnley community fundraising helps fund prostate health testing this Saturday

Men in Burnley are being offered subsidised prostate health blood tests thanks to a community fundraising campaign.

Testing is taking place in Howe Walk, Burnley, on Saturday, September 19th, following fundraising through the Mayoress’s Committee Pop-Up Shop.

The shop raised money specifically to support prostate health testing, with members of the public donating goods, volunteering and buying items from the temporary shop.

Charter Walk Shopping Centre has also made a contribution towards the testing programme.

Organisers say the money raised by the community will be put directly towards making prostate health testing more accessible to local men.

The fundraising has now generated enough money to fund a further two testing days.

Men who missed the opportunity to book an appointment through the Pop-Up Shop can register their interest in the next testing sessions at the prostate health stall in Howe Walk on Saturday.

The next testing days will be by appointment only and men are being asked to register in advance.

Men aged over 40 are being encouraged to find out more about the testing and put their names forward for an appointment.

The campaign is being supported by local people who have raised money specifically to help men in the Burnley community access prostate health testing.
