Barnoldswick's Bands on the Square event may not go ahead this year
Barnoldswick’s popular Bands on the Square event is unlikely to take place this year, the town council has revealed.
Barnoldswick Town Council confirmed that although the event was approved on November 5th 2025, several outstanding issues relating to planning, safety arrangements, and insurance have yet to be resolved to the required standard.
In particular, the council noted that appropriate insurance coverage is not yet in place, which is essential to meet safety and governance requirements for public events.
A spokesman for the council said: “We remain fully supportive of community events and are committed to ensuring that future events are properly planned, insured, and safe for everyone attending.”
The council thanked organisers, performers, volunteers, sponsors, and community members for their continued support and acknowledged the disappointment the news may cause among residents and fans of the event.
Bands on the Square has been a highlight of Barnoldswick’s community calendar, and organisers say they hope to resolve the outstanding issues in time for future events.
