Alkincoats Park family fun day returns with biggest event yet

Families are being invited to enjoy a packed day of free entertainment when Colne Town Council's annual Family Fun Day returns to Alkincoats Park.

The popular event, now in its fifth year, takes place on Sunday, July 26, with organisers promising the biggest programme yet of live entertainment and activities.

A wide range of free attractions will be available throughout the day, including a mobile farm, Punch and Judy shows, face painting and comedy magic performances.

Visitors can also try giant inflatable Hungry Hippos, an inflatable gladiator joust, Duck N Run, Knight School and archery, while the programme also includes knight duel shows, dinosaur encounters and daredevil displays from Dangerous Steve.

Alongside the free attractions, there will be a fun day market, children's fairground rides and giant inflatables across the park.

Live entertainment will take place throughout the day on the main stage, featuring performances from Lord Street Primary School Choir, Soul Gravy, Ally (Solo), Andrew Gilmour/Giz, Encore Dance School and G1 Dance.

Nathan Cutler, events officer at Colne Town Council, said: "Our family fun day is back again in 2026, and the event features a fantastic variety of entertainment with something for everyone. Get the date in your calendar and come and join the fun."

There will be no parking available inside Alkincoats Park on the day. Instead, visitors are being directed to nearby parking at Holt House, with access to the event via the top entrance to the park, around a three-minute walk from the main arena.

The event is organised by Colne Town Council with support from sponsors Macadams Rescue & Accident Repair and EFS Global, helping to keep the main attractions free for visitors.
