However, there will be a temporary closure of Halifax Road between Robin House Lane and Ridehalgh Lane, from October 22nd until December 21st.

Also, closures will be in place on Ridehalgh Lane between Halifax Road and Stephen Hey from November 5th until December 21st. Access to both roads will be maintained for residents.

The brand new cables are designed to manage larger quantities of electricity which is essential as demand increases in the area.

They are also more reliable and easier to repair and reconnect in case of a fault, meaning faster reconnections and less disruption for residents.

Lee Maxwell, area manager at Electricity North West, said: “It is essential that these new cables are installed in order to secure the supply of electricity to residents and businesses for many years to come.

“Demand for electricity has grown significantly since the original cables were put in more than 50 years ago, but this new project will ensure that the supply fully meets the needs of our customers.

“We hope that drivers and residents will bear with us while we get this work done.”

Working closely with Burnley Borough Council, Electricity North West has scheduled the eight-week project to minimise disruption as much as possible.
