In what has been a bitter-sweet 2020, a year which saw the death of renowned pizza chef Vincenzo 'Enzo' Manta, the shop has been voted the “2021 Good Food Award Winner for Takeaways”.

Good Food Awards recognise the hard-working teams who strive for culinary excellence within their field.

Based upon customer feedback, nominations and votes, judges said: "Enzo's demonstrated exceptional levels of food quality, service and value when compared to industry benchmarks in their category."

A spokesman for the Manta family, who own the hugely-popular Colne Road eatery, said: "The team at Enzo's are so proud to have won this award and are thankful to you, our customers, for putting us forward and voting for us. We are overwhelmed and sincerely grateful, for every single vote!

"This has been an extremely difficult year for everyone with coronavirus, lockdowns, loss of loved ones and we ourselves have experienced an immense loss in Vincenzo Manta (Enzo) passing.

"We know for a fact that this award would have made him proud and he would have been so grateful to the people of Burnley, whom he held in such high regard.
