And following the launch of its latest grant schemes the Council is urging businesses to see if they can access any financial help.

Dean Langton, chief executive of Pendle Council, said: “We know there are eligible businesses who haven’t yet applied for grant support and we’re appealing to them to apply.

“This money is all about kick-starting the local economy as we come out of lockdown and restrictions are lifted. We’ve received hundreds of applications already so it’s taking us a little longer to process them. Please bear with us – we’re working as fast as we can!”

The Restart Grant is a one-off payment to help local businesses to re-open safely.

Non-essential retail businesses could receive a grant of up to £6,000 and hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses could receive up to £18,000.

Any businesses which are not eligible for any other grant support, including a Restart Grant, should see if they are eligible for an Additional Restrictions Grant.

Dean explained: “We want to support as many businesses as possible and I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t been eligible for previous grants to see if we can help with an Additional Restrictions Grant.

“We’ve reviewed our policy for our third round of Additional Restrictions Grant (Recovery) and made some changes so that more businesses can benefit from our financial support.”

Businesses are encouraged to act now before grant schemes close.
