Burnley MP calls for debate on the safe re-opening of health and fitness centres

Burnley MP Antony Higginbotham wants a parliamentary debate on how to safely re-open health and fitness centres.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Higginbotham said he wanted the health and fitness sector "firing on all cylinders" again as he stated how important it was for both the mental and physical health of residents across the borough.

Referencing Burnley business FX Fitness, run by brothers Jamie and Josh Kennedy, he said that “we have to look after our physical and our mental health and to do that we need a thriving health and fitness sector”.

“We have some amazing businesses here in Burnley and Padiham, including FX Fitness Experience Personal Training and Performance Centre," he added.

"They help people live active, fit and healthier lifestyles and so I asked the Leader of the House whether we could have a debate about how we safely get them reopened and firing on all cylinders.

“As ever I will continue to stand up for all business impacted by Covid restrictions and these conversations with the Government will continue”.
