“We were given no option but to issue Dads and Lads with a prohibition notice on Thursday November 5th to ensure they stopped trading immediately.

“Police have since visited the barber shop a number of times and they’ve confirmed it remains closed.”

Michael Duck, Environmental Health team leader, said: “Throughout the pandemic we’ve supported local businesses to guide them through the new legislation.

“Most of Pendle’s businesses have welcomed this support and have ensured they are doing all they can to protect the health and wellbeing of their staff and customers.”

Councillor Iqbal added: “It’s been very tough for Pendle businesses and the vast majority of them are getting it right. Our Environmental Health Team has visited 685 businesses during the pandemic of which 98% were following the rules.

“We want to thank them for the huge efforts they have made during this extremely difficult year. But it’s important that we take action in the interest of public health when businesses flout the law.

“It’s also extremely unfair on other businesses which have complied with the legislation and closed, if others do not.”
