Calf’s Head triumph in brewery golf challenge

David Sharples, of The Calf’s Head, Worston, emerged as the top individual player when Moorhouse’s Brewery held its popular annual golf competition at Burnley Golf Club for the first time.

With 22 teams, some 88 golfers from the brewery, its trade customers and suppliers took part in the charity event, which raised £700 for Christie Hospital with a raffle of prizes donated by suppliers.

The Red Herring team from Coppell, near Chorley, emerged victorious, while David took the top spot as individual player of the contest.

David Grant, Moorhouses’ managing director, said: “Our competition is ever more popular each year. The day was a great success and we were really delighted to once again raise funds for Christie’s.”
