Mark Steel brings the laughs to Burnley

AN intelligent and witty insight into your town’s history may not be what you expect when going to see a nationally award-winning comedian.

Mark Steel though will have you looking at Burnley in a whole new light when you leave the Mechanics on Friday, March 11th.

His UK tour comes on the back of his highly acclaimed, Sony Award-winning and Writers Guild Award-winning Radio 4 comedy show “Mark Steel’s In Town”, which deals with local knowledge experiences.

Speaking about these experiences he said: “In the North Yorkshire farming town of Skipton, I told the audience I’d seen a sign for Keighley, and wondered whether that was Skipton’s rival town. It went chillingly quiet and one woman called out with calm menace ‘Keighley – is a sink of evil’.”

As well as “Mark Steel’s In Town”, Mark has presented the BAFTA-nominated “Mark Steel Lectures” for BBC2, is a regular on “Have I Got News For You” and Radio 4’s “Newsquiz”.

Tickets are £15 and available by calling the box office on 01282 664400 or visiting www.burnleymechanics.co.uk.
