‘Elvis Presley in Concert’ to light up the Koko’s stage

BURNLEY is set to be all shook up with the king of tribute shows.

The hip-swivelling “Elvis Presley in Concert” is lighting up the stage at Koko’s on Saturday, March 26th.

Organised by 17-year-old Burnley promoter Chris Forrest, the show will feature Burnley Elvis impersonator Jared Warne (18) along with the renowned local Elvis showman Andy Brown.

Jared, who reached the final of the Elvis World Cup English heat and won the “Gold Lame Award” for the best 50s Elvis at the Porthcawl Elvis Festival last year, is becoming a tour-de-force on the tribute scene and cannot wait for the show at Koko’s.

“It should be a really good night and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve loved Elvis since I was about five years old when I saw an advert with him on. As soon as I heard his music I was hooked.

“I’ve already done quite a few shows around Burnley and I really want to carry on doing it and make a living out of it because it’s something that I really enjoy doing.”

His passion for the King is very much shared by Chris, whose enthusiasm for Elvis’ music has seen him put a huge amount of time and effort into the show.

“I’ve been wanting to do promoting for a while but I wanted to put something on for more of an older age group,” said the former Blessed Trinity pupil. “I’m a massive Elvis fan and so I thought it made sense to do something with an Elvis theme.

“We’ve been planning it since before Christmas so a lot of thought has gone into the production. I’ve known Jared for quite a while because it’s unusual for someone around my age to be into Elvis. He’s really good at what he does and he and Andy will put on a really good show.”

Chris is also an aspiring DJ and will be playing a set on the night – in an Elvis fancy dress costume.

“I hope the event goes well because this is something that I want to carry on doing. I want to stick with the Elvis theme because it’s something that I love but I want to just keep on making the shows bigger and better.”

The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets, priced at £10, are available by calling 07792391696.
