Come and join the dance in Roughlee
Malkin Morris and the Roughlee Village Centre Committee of Roughlee will be joining forces to dance out the year at a village ceilidh.
The Malkin Morris Christmas Ceilidh on Monday, 29th December, is the latest in a series of village events supported by the dancers and their band, the Roughlee Ruffians, including a family fun day in the summer, and dancing and leading the carol singing at this year’s festive lights switch-on.
Tickets have been snapped up for the dance at the Village Centre where music will be provided by the Ruffians, which includes Frolicking Pete and the Fumbling Fingers Ceilidh Band, and friends.
Organiser and Malkin honorary president Gin Crewe said, “We’ve been practicing at Roughlee Village Centre for eight years or so now, and the committee there has constantly supported us. We’re delighted to be able to have our ceilidh at the centre and, as ever, the committee has been great and given us full backing. We hope the residents who come to the ceilidh will have as much fun as we will.

There are just a few tickets left: contact familycrewe@hotmail com or the Village Centre Committee.
Malkin’s final practice of the year was on December 15th but the side will be back in action with a free taster session for would-be dancers and musicians at the Village Centre on Monday, January 12th.
“We’d love people to come along and just give it a go,” said Gin. “Morris is a great way to make friends, have fun and keep fit - and we’re keeping a local tradition going at the same time. Most of our dances are from towns and villages round Pendle Hill, and some of our music is local, too.
“Anyone who comes along on the 12th, whether as a dancer or musician, will get a very warm welcome.”
Practices run from 7pm until 9pm.
