Vintage Clarets to take on St Ted’s Old Boys in charity match in support of Mick

Vintage Clarets will take on St Theodore’s Old Boys on Sunday in a special charity football match in support of popular teacher Mick Ennis, who is having treatment for cancer at Pendleside Hospice.

The game will take place at Burnley Belvedere’s Holden Road ground, kick-off 1-30 p.m.

The Vintage Clarets will face stiff opposition, coming up against the likes of former Burnley midfielder John Mullin and brother Paul, as well as one-time Manchester United centre back Chris Casper.

To help the charity effort, Danny Ings has donated a pair of boots, auctioned on ebay, while the “Burnley Express” James Anderson, who attended St Theodore’s, sent a signed England shirt.

Reading midfielder Oliver Norwood, another former St Theodore’s pupil, donated £200 and his Northern Ireland shirt from last Friday’s clash against Romania to auction. Lanway have also donated a pair of Jay Rodriguez’s boots to be auctioned on ebay, and former England and Manchester United defender Phil Neville has offered a signed shirt he wore at a legends game at the Allianz Arena in August. Nick Palich, a former pupil, organised the charity match, with over £3,000 raised towards an initial target of £5,000, including £500 from four local businesses, including match sponsors, match ball sponsors and a contribution for a man of the match.
