Record signing Andre Gray has vowed to show why the club splashed the cash on him after the international break.

The £6m striker made his debut in the 2-1 victory against Bristol City at Ashton Gate where he played 70 minutes.

And the 24-year-old says that he will use the window in the domestic calendar as an opportunity to sharpen up and bed in with the squad.

Gray said: “It’s a good opportunity to get some fitness in, get training and get used to the boys and how they all play. I’ll go forward from there.

“It’s a bit different for me with the way we play so that will take some getting used to.

“I need to get fitter because it’s a completely different level of fitness that’s needed with what I’ve been used to.

“I think I’ll only get better with fitness and adapting to the way we play.”

“I think I showed the energy and pace that I’ll bring and trying to get in behind.

“Hopefully you’ll see a lot more of that in the coming games and throughout the season.”
