Sporting heroes of a different kind
The phrase sporting heroes is one usually associated with greats such as Pele, Sir Steve Redgrave or Sir Ian Botham.
But for every professional great there are hundreds of local sporting heroes whose commitment and dedication rarely get recognised.
Thankfully, Burnley does not fall into that category as every year the town marks the achievements of our community sporting heroes at a special awards evening.
And rightly so too, as these people give their time and money to enrich the lives of so many people.
Today we are proud to feature their achievements.
