Work to transform Manchester Road train station in Burnley is due to get under way this week.

Council bosses said the new station will create a modern look and accommodate increased numbers of passengers.

Coun. Shah Hussain, Executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: “With work starting on site on the construction of the new Manchester Road railway station to accommodate the planned growth of rail passengers with a modern welcoming station, we are at the start of what will be a new and more prosperous time for Burnley.”
