Fly-tipper fined for dumping mattress in Ribble Valley village

A man has been slapped with a £400 fine for dumping a mattress at the side of a road in Mitton.

The white van driver was caught after Ribble Valley Borough Council officials obtained his vehicle details form DVLA.

A spokesman for RVBC tweeted the incident stating: "The occupant of a white van fly tipped a mattress at the side of the road in Mitton and the council contacted DVLA for keeper details.

"A £400 fine was issued and was reduced to £120 as it was paid by the owner within seven days."
