Saira Hussain, from Hussain Architectural Design, received an invitation from Baroness Uddin and attended the House of Lords as part of Global Entrepreneurship week.

Saira holds the position of leader of women’s empowerment at the Global young Asian Entrepreneurs network based in London and one of the key organisers of the event.

Saira established Hussain Architectural Design in 2011.

The event took place at the House of Lords on Wednesday, November 16th and was hosted by Baroness Uddin, with the former footballer Edgar Davids the keynote speaker.

The panel discussion focused on ‘creating platforms for future entrepreneurs and global leaders to thrive’, forming community cohesion, and opportunities.

Saira started Hussain Architectural Design in a small office in Burnley in 2011 after working some years in practice and completing her degree at Huddersfield University.

HAD is now based throughout the UK, including Burnley, Blackburn, Manchester, and London.

Having been nominated for over 20 awards in the last few years, including The Duke of Gloucester Awards, Red Rose Awards, English Asian Business Awards and HAD has recently won two awards on the Architecture and Engineering categories for Build Magazine. Whilst juggling all this at her practice, she is currently studying for a PhD part time.

Some of the highlights have been things such as interviews for the BBC’s Apprentice, along with being invited to take part in a Property developing programme on ITV, which Saira was unfortunately unable to attend.

One of HAD’s houses has recently featured on the BBC’s House that 100k Built.
