Bank of Dave director Chris Foggin says trending Netflix movie is 'what the world needs right now'

Respected young director Chris Foggin, who has previously helmed feelgood movie Fisherman’s Friends, spoke to reporter Dominic Collis about his latest warm-hearted feature which he described as “community versus the machine”.
When asked if he thought he’d ever be attending a film premiere in Burnley, the Sunderland-born director replied: “I didn’t but I’m so happy about it. I was born and raised in Sunderland. Just to be back in the north surrounded by so many brilliant people is great.”

Hide AdAnd the respected up-and-coming director agreed that the film carries an important message and its underlying theme of helping each other is what the world needs right now.
He added: “It’s almost the community versus the machine, people coming together to be nice to one another, and just care for each other. It seems simple to say but we need to practice it more. I hope the film gets that message across.
“When people get in work from work I hope they can put it on and for an hour and 45 minutes just smile. These are the type of films I’ve always wanted to make. The world needs films like this. It’s a feelgood movie that I hope people see the nice side of.”
