Olivia and Antonia Wright from Burnley were thrilled when they met “Coronation Street” idols Katherine Kelly and Chris Fountain at The Mall, Blackburn.

The celebrities were there to mark the launch of the £66m. redevelopment, which was completed earlier this year when the £8m. Blackburn Market moved into the lower level of The Mall, Blackburn.

The sisters attended the event on Saturday with their dad Nigel. He said: “The girls are both huge ‘Coronation Street’ fans and really enjoyed meeting Katherine and Chris and having their pictures taken with them.”

The day was fun for the whole family and fashion shows featured glitz, glamour and the latest clothes and accessories.

Shoppers could also enter a prize draw to win a £1,000 spending spree with Gok Wan and food and drink was available from the many eating establishments available in The Mall.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “The launch event to mark the end of the redevelopment here at The Mall was fantastic and shoppers flocked from across the county and beyond.

“We had brilliant feedback from the fashion shows, which featured real people from Lancashire who were selected after our Mall Model competition in the summer.

“The reaction to our special guests was wonderful and people were queued for hours to get autographs signed and have their pictures taken with Katherine and Chris.”
