Lisa Cowley from Independent Street said: “We are delighted to have been asked to deliver a fantastic community event for Burnley town centre showcasing many local Lancashire businesses. We cannot wait to deliver a specialist monthly event with many award winning producers of unique goods set to inspire.

“Pop along and join us, it is a superb opportunity to find out the origins of your food, meet our makers and bakers, feast your eyes upon some goodies and fill those shopping bags whilst indulging in some good conversations with our team and stall holders. There is something for the whole family and best of all, it’s free entry.”

Burnley Business Improvement District Project Manager Andrew Dean said: “We’re excited to play a part in bringing these monthly events to the town to help showcase local independent businesses and their produce.

Leader of Burnley Borough Council, Coun. Afrasiab Anwar, said: “Officers have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen. The artisan markets will attract shoppers from further afield, provide a different offer and exciting shopping experience and are part of our wider plans for a vibrant town centre.

"If the pilot is successful we hope to make this a regular offer for Burnley shoppers.”

Coun. Cosima Towneley said: "Having worked with Lisa Cowley for some years it is a pleasure to, at long last, bring Independent Street artisan markets to Burnley. A monthly market of this calibre, which embraces the talents of local traders and brings in a variety of quality enterprises to fire the imagination, will add colour and vibrancy to our town centre."
