Burnley theatre to rock audiences with epic Greek classic

The city of Troy has fallen and for the Trojan Women it means only one thing.

As they await a terrible fate, they question whether death would be more favourable.

This Greek classic, written by Euripides in 415BC, looks at the devastation of war and the emptiness and despair it brings.

It also offers a historic perspective on today’s atrocities.

The production will be presented by Burnley Youth Theatre’s Creatives group who are aged from 11 to 18.

It has mature themes and is suitable for audiences aged 11 and older.

Due to damage caused by flooding to the society’s home-base in Queen’s Park Road, the play has been moved to a new venue.

It will now be performed at St Stephen’s Church, Oxford Road, Burnley, which dates back to the 19th Century and will set the tone of the show wonderfully, according to the youth theatre.
